Easy Christmas Crafts

Fun Foam Snowflake Instructions

Instructions:

Draw a snowflake and cut it out. Use the paper snowflake to trace the pattern onto white craft fun foam. Make two identical patterns and cut them both out of the fun foam. Then, place one snowflake over the other, not center so that the points of the snowflakes do not overlap.  Using tacky craft glue, glue the two snowflakes together.  With the paper punch cut a whole out of the top of the snwman. Glue on two small googly eyes.  Glue on two small pink pompoms for cheeks. If you don't have any pompoms, you can smudge on a very small amount of pink blush makeup as cheeks, or color lightly with pink paint or crayon.  Finish your Christmas Ornament by using a black or red marker to draw on a smile. If you want you can also dust on white glitter.

What You'll Need:

White craft fun foam

Small goggle eyes

Tacky craft glue

2 tiny pink pompoms

Black or red marker

Paper punch

Scissors

String

Smiley snowflake pattern

Card Basket

What You'll Need:

14 used Christmas cards

white glue

 red or green yarn

a yarn needle

small but sharp-pointed scissors, sharp awl or similar item to poke holes through two cards glued together

you may want a crochet hook

Instructions:

Trace around the patterns on the back of two old Christmas cards and cut out these patterns to use.

If you don't have a computer you can make your own patterns. Trace around your templates, then cut out 12 sides and 2 bottom pattern pieces from the front of old Christmas cards. Try to center the nicest part of the card pictures in the middle of each piece.

Glue two sides together, with the pictures facing outwards on each side; do the same for bottom pieces. Let the glue dry.

Poke holes all around the pattern piece. These are sewing holes used to frame each piece with blanket stitch. Use a large needle to create the holes at first, but then find the sharp tip of some small steel scissors. You can also try the tip of small awl. Make the holes about 1/4 inch apart and about 1/4 inch from the edge. Take your yarn and sew a blanket stitch all around each pattern piece. When you have finished edging with blanket stitch, begin sewing all the side pieces to the bottom, then sewing all the sides together. You have now completed your Christmas card. If you know how to crochet you could finish off the top edge with one row of single crochet.

Let It Snow

Snowman Hanger Decoration

What You'll Need:

Craft Foam in White, Red, and Black

Tacky Glue

Scissors

Black Marker and pen

Blue Marker and blue metallic gel pen

Red Pencil

Orange Pompom

3 White chenille Stems (pipe cleaners)

Instructions:

Trace all the pattern pieces. The hat is cut as one piece and the red trim is added on top of the black hat. Use tacky glue to assemble all the pieces and allow the glue to dry, before disturbing your hanger. The chenille stems are wrapped around a pencil to create the swirl effect. Wrap 1 chenille stem around a pencil and push through hat. Cut 2 chenille stems in half, wrap each section around a pencil and push through red ribbon banner and snowflakes as indicated on pattern and as shown in photo. "Let It Snow" is written, using a metallic blue gel pen, but you can use any marker or pen of your choice. The face is colored using markers for the outlines, the eyes are colored blue, the cheeks are shaded using a red pencil and all the dotted trim (looks like sewing stitches) is done with a black pen. For the nose cut the pompom to a cone shape. The size of your pompom won't make much difference, just trim away fluff until you have a small cone shape that is suitable for the face. Glue the flat side of your cone shape to the nose section indicated on the pattern sheet.

Be sure to print the photo as well as the pattern, to help you in assembling this project.

Curly Ribbon Craft Foam Santa Pin

What you'll need:

· Small pieces of fun foam red, white, flesh.

·Tiny pink pompom or Small white pompom

·Tiny google eyes

· White curling ribbon

· Scissors (children use only with an adults help)

· Pin backing or magnet

· Craft glue or tacky glue

Instructions:

Cut a hat out of red craft foam; a triangle shape will work best.

With the white craft fun foam, cut a small cloud shape, similar to what you see in the photo, and glue this to the hat.

Cut a small half oval shape out of skin tone foam for Santa's face.

Glue the hat onto the face. Glue a small white pompom at the top of the hat.

With an adult's help, take a pair of scissors and with the scissors opened, pull pieces of curling ribbon through the scissors. This will make a curl. Make 5 white curls and glue them to the face - one near where the ears should be; one on each side, and three at the chin. These curls make Santa's hair and beard. Glue the tiny pink pompom close to the beard for Santa's nose. Glue the googly eyes near the nose magnet so that you can show it off on the fridge.

     Little Rudolph Paper Cup

What You'll Need:

1 plastic, paper, or foam cup for drinking

     Pink and brown acrylic paint

2 3”-squares of tanish brown felt

     2 medium goggly eyes

1 medium sized red pom pom

     2 black pipe cleaner stems

Piece of felt to fit the inside rim of your cup for drinking

     Craft glue (white)

     Marker (black)

     Scissors

Instructions:

Paint a drinking cup with brown or dark brown paint and put on the side to dry.

When the paint is dry, stand drinking cup upright and glue two goggly eyes on the front of the drinking cup, about halfway down from the rim.

Glue red pom pom on for the nose just above the bottom of the drinking cup, in the center under the eyes.

Use scissors to poke a slit in both sides of the drinking cup where you want the ears to be.

Roll one of the felt squares up like an icecream cone; put the pointed end into one of the slits on the drinking cup. Do the same on the other side. Put felt to the drinking cup with white glue.

Bend each pipe cleaner stem in half. Form pipe cleaner ends into antlers by making a couple of bends on each one.

Glue piece on tanish brown felt inside the rim of the drinking cup, then quickly put the antlers under the strip on both sides. You may need to hold these in place for a few minutes, and wait for the glue to stick. You can also hold with clothespins.

Put the tip of your finger in pink paint and dab the extra paint off onto a paper towel. Dot pink paint on to show the cheeks.

To draw on eyebrows use a black marker.

TIPS:

To give this drinking cup some weight, glue to the bottom of the cup a washer.

You can fill this with wrapped candies, and it would make a great gift.

Substitutions: instead of pom poms you can use red glitter; brown pipe cleaners can stand in for

     brown felt.

Potato Chip Can Santa

What You'll Need:

1 potato chip can

1 piece white felt2 pieces red felt

1 piece black felt

1 piece peach felt

Cotton balls (many)

1 big white pom pom

1 huge craft stick

1 glittery silver pipe cleaner stem

2 medium goggly eyes

1 tiny pink pom pom

(White) craft messy glue or hot glue gun

Scissors

Paper patterns

Instructions:

Cut out some paper patterns.

Put the peach felt over the top half of the potato chip can.

Cut the huge craft stick in to two equal pieces.

Have an adult poke a hole in each side of the potato chip  can; the arms will go there.

Wrap the red felt around the potato chip can, line up with the bottom of the potato chip can and cut so that it overlaps the peach felt. Don't glue to the can right away.

Hold the felt in its place and use a black marker to put a dot on the red felt where the holes in the potato chip can are. Take off the felt and cut a small slit where each dot made by the marker is; the arms will slide in there.

Glue the red felt in its place, making sure that the slits line up with the holes in the potato chip can.

Cut the jacket trim from the white felt using the paper patterns. Glue the center trim piece on to the red felt, starting at the top of the red felt. Glue the bottom jacket trim around the potato chip can, covering the center jacket trim at the bottom.

Cut the arms of the jacket from the white and red felt using the paper patterns. Place the white arm trim down first, the red felt on top of that overlapping the white. Lay the craft stick on top of both the red and white felt, the rounded end should be sticking out about 1” from the white cuff. The flat (cut) end of the craft stick should also be sticking out about ¼”, just enough to place into the potato chip can. If it is not, trim the felt to allow some of the stick to show. Fold the felt around the stick to create the sleeve and glue in its place. Do the same for the other arm.

Cut the belt and boots from the black felt using the paper pattern.  Glue the belt around the potato chip can, about ¾” above the bottom white trim. Glue the boots to the bottom of the potato chip can.

Bend the silver pipe cleaner stem into a buckle, trim where it needs to be trimmed. Glue onto the belt.

Put the arms into the slits/holes in the side of the potato chip can. Glue to hold.

Glue a sheet of red felt around the top of the potato chip can, just at the rim. This will be the santa hat. For now, just glue the felt around the rim and continue to the next step.

Starting at the back, glue small cotton balls in place for the hair and beard. Use the photo as a guide.

Grab the felt of the hat and tuck in and glue as you continue to create the cap shape. Bend the cap downward and glue to the side to keep it down. Glue a white pompom to the end of the hat.

Glue on goggly eyes and a pink pompom for the nose.
